I recently received a beta-invite to Biogrify, a service I’m still at a loss to explain. From what I can tell, it is a Twitter-Tumblr hybrid with ambitions to be the default ‘biogrify’ of your life. Nowhere on the site could I find the mission statement, or even an ‘About Us’ page. I understand it’s a beta, but the ‘about’ section should be one of the first things to go live on any site. Startups, take heed!
As I said, the actual site is a mashup between Tumblr and Twitter. You can follow people. They can follow you back. You can invite friends and create quick posts. Your home stream is like Tumblr. There is another button below ‘quick post’, titled rather literally, ‘Create’. Through this button, you can track the following:
Again, I’m at a loss to explain this and wish the startup was clearer about what it wants from the user. I can’t imagine ever needing to track ‘Time Since/Time Until’ – I can count backwards mentally for that. The other button for ‘Time Spent/Number of’ is poorly worded, and I’m not adventurous enough to go playing with it.
I’ve written a friendly note to the site to let them know about some of the issues. It’s a beta product, so I’ll reserve judgments, but I sincerely hope the team clarifies a few things about the product.
